Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, renal failure, pregnancy (I trimester).

Incompatibilities

Aescin enhances the nephrotoxic effect of aminoglycoside antibiotics. Potentiates the action of anticoagulants. Cephalosporins weaken the binding of Aescin to plasma proteins, which increases the likelihood of toxic effects.

Undesirable effects

The drug is well tolerated. In rare cases, nausea, a feeling of heat, palpitations, skin rashes are possible.

Therapeutic indications

Chronic venous insufficiency.

Hemorrhoids in the acute stage.

Traumatic soft tissue injuries: edema, inflammation, hematomas.

Prevention and treatment of postoperative edema and hematomas.

Acute nerve root radiculopathy.

Pharmacokinetic properties

It is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract by approximately 11%. Cmax it is achieved very quickly, then the escin is redistributed into the tissues. Binding to plasma proteins is significant. It is excreted in bile and urine.

Fertility, pregnancy and lactation

If indicated, it is possible to use Aescin in the second and third trimester of pregnancy. It is not recommended to use the drug during breastfeeding.

Dosage (Posology) and method of administration

Inside, after meals, with plenty of water, 40 mg (2 tablets) 3 times a day. As the clinical effect is achieved, the dose is reduced to 40 mg (2 tables) 2 times a day.

The course of treatment of chronic venous insufficiency — 2 months or more. In the case of acute pathology, the drug is used for 5-14 days at the discretion of the doctor.

In order to prevent postoperative edema and hematomas, the drug is prescribed at least 16 hours before the operation.

Children are prescribed 1/2 dose of adults.
