Bioselenium is a suspension for use on the skin or scalp that contains selenium sulfide as an active ingredient, which acts against bacteria and fungi (antifungal).
It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of common dandruff and an inflammation and peeling rash (seborrheic dermatitis) of the skin and scalp.
Bioselenium is indicated in adults and adolescents over 14 years of age.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
If the medicine comes into contact with the ocular mucosa, it can be irritating and cause conjunctivitis.
Skin irritation may occur, so hair should be well lightened until the medicine is completely removed. It can cause unusual hair fat and diffuse hair loss. Rarely, hair can be pigmented (usually because it has not cleared well) and transient nausea may occur (from the smell of the active ingredient). Awareness may also appear.

Skin use (external use).
The recommended dose is:
Adults:
One or two teaspoons of suspension coffee twice a week for the first fifteen days and after one to four times a month, according to response.
Instructions for the correct administration of the medicine
1- Shake the Bioselenium bottle well and pour the equivalent of one or two teaspoons of coffee into the hole of the hand and apply it to the area to be treated as a light massage, adding a little warm water, which accelerates foam formation and better disperses the medicine.
2- Let Bioselenium act for 2 or 3 minutes.
3- Rinse with plenty of water until the medicine is completely eliminated.
The operation can be repeated below.
In case of worsening or persistence of symptoms after a week, consult your doctor.
Use in children and adolescents
Do not use in children under 14 years old.
If you use more Bioselenium than you should
Given the route of administration, overdose poisoning is not to be expected. Although accidental ingestion of large amounts is difficult given its poor taste, if it occurs, you may notice anorexia (loss of appetite), vomiting, and anemia.
In case of accidental ingestion, immediately consult your doctor or pharmacist or go to a Medical Center, or call the Toxicological Information Service, Telephone 91 562 04 20, indicating the product and the amount ingested.
Treatment may consist of emptying the stomach by aspiration and washing with a saline purgative.
If you forgot to use Bioselenium
Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Apply Bioselenium when you remember and continue with the established frequency.
If you stop taking Bioselenium
If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
