Therapeutic indications

WHAT ACALKA IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

Acalka belongs to the group of medicines called urinary concretions solvents that serve to dissolve stones (stones) of the urinary system.

 

Acalka reduces the formation of calcium oxalate crystals and precipitation of uric acid. It increases the pH of the urine trying to restore its normal levels without causing any alteration in the body.

 

It is indicated in the prevention and treatment of kidney Lithiasis (formation of stones or stones in the kidney) by calcium oxalate and/or calcium phosphate, uric acid alone or accompanied by calcium lithiasis and hypocitraturia (decrease of citrates in the urine).

Dosage (Posology) and method of administration

HOW TO TAKE ACALKA

Follow exactly the instructions for taking this medicine as directed by your doctor. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.

 

The recommended dose is:

 

Hypocitraturia (decreased citrates in the urine) mild to moderate:

The usual dose of Acalka is 1 Tablet (10 mEq potassium citrate) 3 times a day, 30 minutes after the 3 main meals.

 

Hypocitraturia (decreased citrates in the urine) severe:

The usual dose of Acalka is 2 tablets (20 mEq potassium citrate) 3 times a day, 30 minutes after the 3 main meals.

 

It should not be exceeded, even very severe cases of hypocitraturia to 10 tablets.

 

Acalka tablets are for oral administration.

 

Swallow the tablets whole with sufficient amount of liquid, without chewing, splitting, or dissolving in a liquid, 30 minutes after the 3 main meals to prevent the occurrence of mild gastrointestinal (stomach and bowel) disorders.

If you take more Acalka than you should

If you have taken more Acalka than you should consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately. In case of overdose or accidental ingestion also consult the toxicological information service,

In the event of hyperkalaemia (increased potassium levels in the blood), treatment consists of intravenous administration of 10% dextrose solution with 10-12 U insulin /1000 ml. If acidosis also occurs, treatment consists of intravenous sodium bicarbonate and hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.

 

If you forgot to take Acalka

Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses.
