Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

Undesirable effects

From the nervous system and sensory organs: rarely-headache, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, weakness, in some cases-hearing impairment, hallucinations, confusion, paresthesia.

From the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, rarely-increased activity of hepatic transaminases.

Other: skin rash, fever.

Therapeutic indications

Enterobiasis, ascariasis, hookworm disease, negataros.

Pharmacodynamic properties

It acts on helminths in the early phase of development and on mature forms, does not affect the larvae in the migration stage. Active against Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus, Trichostrongylus orientalis, Trichostrongylus colubriformis.

Pharmacokinetic properties

It is practically not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. After oral administration in a single dose of 10 mg/kg body weight Cmax it is 0.005–0.13 mcg/ml and is achieved within 1-3 hours. It is partially metabolized in the liver to N-methyl-1,3-propanediamine. It is excreted in the faeces (50% of the dose taken-unchanged) and in the urine (about 7% — unchanged and in the form of a metabolite).

Dosage (Posology) and method of administration

Inside, at any time of the day, without first taking laxatives, not necessarily on an empty stomach.

The tablets are intended for adults and children over 6 years of age.

Only suspension is recommended for children under 6 years of age. The suspension is intended for children weighing more than 12 kg. Shake the suspension before use.

1 ml of suspension contains 50 mg of pyrantel base, 1 scoop (2.5 ml) - 125 mg of pyrantel base.

Pinworms and ascarids: in the treatment of enterobiasis and ascariasis once the drug is administered at the recommended dose.

The usual dosage is 12.5 mg / kg once:

- children under 6 years of age — 1 scoop of suspension per 10 kg of body weight,

- children over 6 years old — 1 scoop of suspension or 1 tablespoon of 125 mg per 10 kg of body weight,

- adults weighing less than 75 kg — 6 measuring spoons or 6 tablespoons of 125 mg, or 3 tablespoons of 250 mg,

- adults weighing more than 75 kg — 8 scoops of suspension or 8 tablets of 125 mg, or 4 tablets of 250 mg.

To prevent re-infection, it is recommended to repeat the drug after 3 weeks.

Hookworms: in endemic areas, in case of infection Necator americanus or a severe infection Ankylostoma duodenale — 25 mg / kg / day (in 1 or 2 doses) for 2-3 days:

- for children - 250 mg per 10 kg of body weight daily,

- adults weighing less than 75 kg - 1.5 g per day,

- adults weighing more than 75 kg - 2 g per day.

In case of infection Ankylostoma duodenale outside of endemic zones (occurs more easily) - at a dose of 12.5 mg / kg per 1 dose.
