Overdose

Symptoms: inhibition of gastrointestinal motility.

Treatment: prescribing laxatives.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, severe renal impairment, Alzheimer's disease, neonatal period, breast-feeding.

Incompatibilities

Reduces the effectiveness of tetracyclines, N2- antihistamines, cardiac glycosides, iron salts, ciprofloxacin, phenothiazines, isoniazid, beta-blockers, indomethacin, ketoconazole, etc. (with a joint appointment, an interval between doses of at least 1-2 hours is recommended).

Undesirable effects

From the gastrointestinal tract: taste disorders, nausea, vomiting, spasm, epigastric pain, constipation.

From the side of metabolism: hypercalciuria, hypermagnesemia, hypophosphatemia.

Other: drowsiness, osteomalacia, dementia and edema of the extremities (against the background of chronic renal failure).

In functional disorders, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, treatment begins with Almagel A.

Therapeutic indications

Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum (acute phase), acute or chronic gastritis with normal or increased secretion (acute phase), reflux esophagitis, diaphragmatic hernia, duodenitis, enteritis, gastrointestinal disorders caused by a violation of the diet, taking medications (NSAIDs, glucocorticoids), drinking coffee or alcohol, smoking.

Pharmacodynamic properties

It is evenly distributed over the gastric mucosa and provides long-lasting gastroprotection. It has buffer-antacid properties: between meals, the pH of gastric juice is preserved from 4-4. 5 to 3.5–3.8. Sorbitol has a choleretic and mild laxative effect. The therapeutic effect manifests itself in 3-5 minutes and lasts for 70 minutes.

Pharmacokinetic properties

It is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.

Nature and contents of container

5 ml of suspension for oral administration contains aluminum hydroxide 300 mg (equivalent to 200 mg of aluminum oxide), magnesium hydroxide 100 mg, in plastic bottles of 170 ml complete with a dosage spoon, in a cardboard pack of 1 bottle.

Fertility, pregnancy and lactation

If you are pregnant, you can use it for no longer than 3 days. Breastfeeding should be discontinued for the duration of treatment.

Dosage (Posology) and method of administration

Inside, 0.5 hours before meals (for gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer between main meals) and at night, adults 1-3 dosage spoons 3-4 times a day. Maintenance dose — 1 dosage spoon 3-4 times a day for 2-3 months. Preventive therapy — 1-2 dosage spoons.

Children are strictly prescribed by a doctor: up to 10 years-1/3 dose for adults, 10-15 years-1/2 dose.

The maximum daily dose is 16 dosage spoons, at this dose, the duration of treatment is no more than 2 weeks.

Before taking the suspension should be shaken.

When the disease is accompanied by nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, treatment begins with Almagel A, and after the disappearance of these symptoms, they switch to taking Almagel.
