Contraindications

Patients receiving MAOIs or w/in 14 days of its termination. Coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, severe HTN, combination w/ other sympathomimetics

Undesirable effects

Tremor, headache, tonic muscle cramps & palpitations; urticaria, exanthema; sleep & behavioral disturbances.

Therapeutic indications

Relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, acute dyspnea & other bronchopulmonary diseases where bronchoconstriction is a complicating factor eg preterm labor

Dosage (Posology) and method of administration

Adult 2-3 tsp. Childn >6 yr 1-2 tsp, 3-6 yr ½-1 tsp, <3 yr ½ tsp. To be taken tid.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction

Reduced effect w/ β-blockers (including eye drops). May potentiate hypokalemia w/ xanthine derivatives, steroids & diuretics.
